Murder Charges Filed On Zubeen Garg’s Manager:

In a major development in the case of the late singer Zubeen Garg, Assam police have added murder charges against his longtime manager, Siddharth Sharma, and the festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. They were earlier arrested on accusations of culpable homicide, conspiracy, and negligence in relation to Garg’s death in Singapore.

As reported earlier, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Assam CID is handling the case. Authorities say Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (dealing with murder) has been added to the FIR. The two were remanded to 14 days of police custody by a Kamrup magistrate.

Meanwhile, two more individuals have been arrested: musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahanta. Goswami was reportedly seen in video footage swimming close to Garg during the yacht outing in Singapore, and Amritprabha had been recording the incident.

Garg, aged 52, died on September 19 while swimming off a yacht during the Northeast India Festival in Singapore. The initial autopsy from Singapore cited drowning. His wife, Garima Garg, has raised doubts about the circumstances, stating he was on medication and hinting at possible coercion.

The police say they await forensic reports and international cooperation with Singapore authorities for further evidence.  The investigation continues, and questions abound over whether the death was purely accidental or involved foul play.
