Rajpal Yadav Gets Interim Bail:

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who had been lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a long-standing cheque bounce and debt dispute, was granted interim bail on Monday by the Delhi High Court after depositing ₹1.5 crore as part of court-mandated conditions.

Yadav’s legal troubles stem from a nearly ₹9 crore liability arising from bounced cheques linked to a 2010 loan taken from a Delhi-based company to finance his directorial venture, which failed at the box office. Over the years, repeated assurances to clear dues were not met, ultimately leading to conviction and a six-month sentence that compelled the actor to surrender earlier this month.

During the February 16 hearing before a bench led by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, the court temporarily suspended his sentence and set conditions for interim relief, including the ₹1.5 crore payment by a specified deadline and furnishing a bail bond with surety. After Yadav’s counsel confirmed the sum had been credited to the complainant’s account, the High Court granted bail until the next hearing scheduled for March 18.

The court also directed that Yadav surrender his passport and barred foreign travel without permission, emphasizing his presence must be ensured either physically or via video conference at the next hearing. Yadav’s bail plea was reportedly also motivated by personal reasons, including his desire to attend a family wedding later this month. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor will be attending his niece's wedding on February 19, 2016.
