Dulquer Salmaan challenges Customs in Kerala HC:
Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan is contesting the seizure of two of his luxury cars when he filed a petition in the Kerala High Court. The vehicles were taken by Customs during a state-wide raid under Operation Numkhor, which targets high-end cars allegedly smuggled into India via Bhutan using forged documents.

The Customs Preventive Commissionerate, Kochi, claims 36 luxury vehicles were seized during the operation and that two of them are registered in Dulquer’s name. One of the seized cars, a 2004 Land Rover Defender, is central to his petition.
In his plea, Dulquer argues he bought the vehicle in good faith, believing all documents were valid. He states the car was shipped by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to its New Delhi delegation and cleared through proper customs entry. He claims that when he handed over the documents to Customs, officials refused to review them and seized his vehicle hastily.
The High Court has asked Customs to respond and set the next hearing for September 30. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also told the court it will investigate the vehicle seizures under its remit.

Dulquer warns that prolonged detention of his cars may damage them, especially since replacement parts are rare. He seeks quashing of the seizure memo and the return of his vehicles. The case’s outcome could have implications for others caught in the same operation.
