Deepak Tijori Cheated of Rs. 5 Lakh:

Veteran Bollywood actor and filmmaker Deepak Tijori has filed a police complaint alleging that he was cheated of Rs. 5 lakh by individuals who promised to help him secure funding for his upcoming film project. The complaint was registered at the Bangur Nagar Police Station in Mumbai after the alleged fraud came to light.

Tijori, who has been active in the Hindi film industry since the 1990s, has been working on a new movie titled Tom, Dick and Mary since late 2024 and was seeking financial backing. According to his complaint, a friend introduced him to a woman named Kavita Shibagh Cooper, who claimed she was associated with the major music label T-Series and had strong contacts in the media industry. She assured Tijori she could arrange financial support for his film.

Kavita then introduced Tijori to another woman, Fouzia Arshi, who purported to be a film producer with connections to Zee Network. Fouzia allegedly told Tijori that she could get a Letter of Interest (LoI) from Zee Network, which would help attract investors. For this service, she asked for Rs. 5 lakh to be paid in two instalments. To build trust, Tijori was reportedly put in touch by phone with someone claiming to be “Mr. Joshi” from Zee Network. Believing the representations, Tijori paid the first instalment of Rs. 2.5 lakh.

However, after the payment and a signed agreement, neither the promised letter nor any further support was provided. The accused allegedly began avoiding Tijori’s calls and messages, prompting him to independently verify the claims. He later learned that no such connections existed and that the individuals had misrepresented themselves.

Following this, Tijori filed the complaint and a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust has been registered against Kavita Cooper, Fouzia Arshi, and an unidentified accomplice. Police have said the accused will be summoned for questioning as the investigation continues.
