A source revealed to midday that although Kalyani is the daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, she does not have deep familiarity with the Hindi film industry. Having built a steady career in South cinema, the actress wanted to be absolutely certain before making the transition to Bollywood. She was carefully weighing whether Hindi films were the right next step for her and if Pralay would be the ideal project to introduce her to a new audience.

The source added that Kalyani was taking her time to understand the scope of the film and the kind of space it would offer her as a performer. This is when Ranveer Singh stepped in. Riding high on the success of Lokah, Ranveer was confident about Pralay, which is being produced under his home banner. Believing strongly in the film’s vision, he personally reached out to Kalyani.

“Since it’s his home production, Ranveer picked up the phone and spoke to her,” the source said. During a long conversation, Ranveer reportedly explained the film’s concept in detail and assured her that Pralay would introduce a completely new cinematic world. He also spoke about the passion driving the project and the creative collaboration between him and director Jai.
