The FIR, registered at the Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, alleges that Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, their daughter Krishna Bhatt, and several associates pitched multiple film projects — including a biopic — promising returns up to ₹200 crore. Investors, convinced by the guarantees, reportedly transferred about ₹30 crore in instalments. However, according to the complaint, the films were either never completed or released without proper credit to the investor.
To date, the police have arrested two individuals connected to the production: co-producer Mehboob Ansari and a vendor Sandeep Trilobhan, who were taken into custody from Mumbai and remanded to Udaipur court till November 23. Authorities have indicated more arrests are likely as investigations continue.
Addressing the allegations, Bhatt has denied any wrongdoing, calling the FIR “misleading” and claiming that certain documents may be forged. He maintains that he had not received any formal notice about the complaint prior to the arrest, and has urged authorities to review all paperwork, insisting the police have been “misled”.
