Dhurandhar Review Movie Talkies:

Director Aditya Dhar returns after the blockbuster success of Uri The Surgical Strike with his second directorial venture, Dhurandhar. Much like his debut film, this one also delves into the world of national security, showcasing the courage, sacrifices, and unshakeable determination of India’s unsung heroes. But unlike Uri, which took a more action-driven approach, Dhurandhar is a full-fledged spy thriller, driven by a layered narrative and undercover operations.

Dhurandhar Story:

The story begins with a retelling of the Kandahar Hijack, setting a tense tone right from the start. Soon after, the narrative shifts to the terrorist attack on the Parliament in Delhi. The Intelligence Bureau is under immense pressure, and a top official lays out an ambitious plan—an undercover mission called “Dhurandhar.” Its objective: infiltrate the enemy’s core, track down the masterminds who operate from across the border, and put a stop to their continuous attacks.

Dhurandhar

To implement this operation, they recruit Aamja, played by Ranveer Singh, an undercover agent who crosses into Pakistan via the Afghanistan border while posing as a Baloch. Aamja slowly gains the trust of the notorious Rehman Dakait, played grippingly by Akshaye Khanna, and continues sending valuable intel back home. However, despite their best efforts, the Mumbai 26/11 attacks take place, leaving the agents and agencies devastated. Shocked and enraged, Aamja decides that the only way left to destroy the network of terrorism and smuggling is by becoming a part of it. The rest of the film follows his transformation and the consequences of walking deeper into the shadows.

The screenplay is consistently engaging. Even though the runtime stretches to a long 3 hours and 34 minutes, there are enough twists to maintain viewer interest. The final 30 minutes, in particular, shift into an explorative zone that hints toward a bigger vision for the franchise. The action set pieces are designed well, offering gritty and realistic combat rather than over-the-top heroism. The technical craft enhances the experience—cinematography is sharp, and the background score heightens the tension in all the right places.

Dhurandhar

However, the pacing could have been smoother. The first half introduces many characters and plot threads, some of which arrive even after the 2-hour mark. This reduces the impact of certain emotional beats and leads to predictability as the film reaches its climax. A tighter edit could have elevated the overall flow. Still, the film succeeds in maintaining its tone of seriousness and authenticity toward the spy genre. That 26/11 scene is too good and Ranveer's reaction after that was heart breaking and emotional.

Dhurandhar Cast:

The performances strongly hold the film together. Ranveer Singh is fully committed and brings intensity to Aamja’s journey, especially as his character transitions from duty-driven patriot to someone who blends into a dangerous world of crime.

Dhurandhar

Akshaye Khanna dominates every scene he appears in; his portrayal of Rehman Dakait is sharp, menacing, and perfectly controlled. Sanjay Dutt adds weight in a heroic supporting part, while Sara Arjun brings innocence and charm to her role. Arjun Rampal appears as a cold-blooded terrorist, leaving a solid mark. R. Madhavan impresses too, although his appearance is short and underutilized.

Aditya Dhar’s direction remains sensitive to real-life inspirations. He gives importance to the emotions and bruises beneath every mission, reminding viewers of the silent warriors who risk everything for the nation.

Dhurandhar Movie Review:

The film clearly sets up a larger universe, and the ending scene makes that intention loud and clear—with the iconic line “Ye naya Hindustan hai…” followed by a chilling hint at “Revenge.” This confirms that the true story of Dhurandhar is just getting started, and a bigger battle awaits in the sequel.

Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar is a solid spy thriller that focuses on undercover grit, national stakes, and characters driven by duty. Despite some pacing issues, it keeps the audience looking forward to what comes next. And with Part 2 already announced, viewers will naturally be curious to see how Aamja’s mission unfolds further.

If you’re interested in patriotic films or espionage stories based on real threats faced by India, Dhurandhar offers plenty to engage with—and leaves you waiting for the next chapter. Watch it for the nation and our national heroes!
