Together Review Movie Talkies:

Looking to try something fresh in the horror genre? Together offers a radically new and shockingly convincing experience—if you're willing to trust the vision behind it. It dives into brutal, unfiltered territory without hesitation and introduces a unique theoretical genius that sustains its momentum right up to the finale. However, the climax might not be everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I found it too over-the-top, even though it stayed true to the film's internal logic. For me, it lacked the gripping thrill I expected, choosing absurdity over impact. But that’s just one perspective. Whether you embrace it or reject it, the rest of the film undeniably deserves both your time and money. Its technical brilliance and gripping story progression are major highlights—worth experiencing, even if the ending doesn’t completely work for you, or it might just.

Together Story:

From the title, poster, and promos, you might think Together is just another romantic drama. But it’s much more—and much darker. Tim (Dave Franco) and Millie (Alison Brie) are in love, but their relationship has been far from normal lately. They’ve been acting like a couple on the verge of falling apart. Millie, still devoted, tries to maintain intimacy, but Tim’s deteriorating mental health, haunted by hallucinations and horrifying nightmares, holds him back. Eventually, Millie discovers that Tim’s visions aren’t just in his head—she’s entangled in the same nightmarish phenomenon. Together, they pose a danger to each other, and together, they must find a way to stop the demonic force that's threatening to destroy them. Will they fight through it, or give in?

Together

Written by Michael Shanks, Together uses its seemingly romantic title to mask a far more sinister meaning. While love is central, it isn’t a source of strength but rather a double-edged threat. As expected, the film turns that love into a weapon against the supernatural—but does it succeed? No spoilers here, but prepare yourself for some absolutely outrageous, mind-bending concepts. Ever seen dogs stuck together after mating? Now, imagine the same scenario—but with humans. Shocking, right? This film dares to visualize such absurd and disturbing ideas. The writing shows an unusual blend of theoretical brilliance and surreal creativity. Imagine being forced to physically sever yourself from your partner just to keep both of you safe. That emotional and psychological tension creates an atmospheric horror experience that grips your senses. I hope these small teasers ignite your curiosity—because there’s a lot more waiting in the film itself.

Together Cast:

The entire narrative rests on the capable shoulders of Dave Franco and Alison Brie, who appear in virtually every scene. Franco shines in the emotionally intense and painful moments, though his romantic scenes feel a little flat. Brie, in contrast, excels in the romantic beats but seems less effective in the action-heavy sequences. Damon Herriman makes a memorable impression in a brief but significant appearance, while Mia Morrissey offers a fleeting but fine performance. The supporting cast plays minor roles with limited screen time, so their impact remains minimal.

Together

Together Movie Review:

Together benefits greatly from its stellar technical craftsmanship. The cinematography is exceptional—especially a cave scene where Tim lights a fire and the flickering shadows across his face showcase brilliant visual storytelling. Immediately following that, a nightmare sequence with heart-pounding sound design and a haunting score will leave you breathless. These elements also heighten the infamous hacksaw scene, which combines theoretical audacity with chilling visuals, even if its execution isn’t fully grounded in realism. The production design and art direction lend strong support throughout, further immersing you in the eerie world.

Together

Director Michael Shanks emerges as a true maverick—a bold storyteller who isn’t afraid to lean into absurdity and brutality. The fact that he convinces you to stay invested in this bizarre world for a full 100 minutes is an achievement in itself. If not for the overly ridiculous climax, I’d confidently call this a path-breaking entry in modern horror. Still, the film’s daring concepts, inventive writing, and superior technical finesse make Together a horror experience worth witnessing on the big screen. It may not be for everyone—but if you’re up for something wild, disturbing, and entirely different, this one’s for you.
