A Minecraft Movie Review Movie Talkies:
Minecraft should have stuck to being a game only; this movie format just wasn't suited for it. It's appalling to see someone approving a film based on a game yet making it look more like a game than a movie. The visual appeal of this game adaptation is zero, and believe me when I say that the visual effects of the game were far better than the visual effects you see in this film. A Minecraft Movie is strictly made for game fans and children, and I firmly believe that regular moviegoers have nothing for them here.

A Minecraft Movie Story:
Steve (Jack Black) finds an "Orb of Dominance" and enters a new universe where you can create anything from your imagination. After being captured by the piglin ruler Malgosha (Rachel House), Steve has his dog Dennis hide the Orb and Crystal under his bed in the real world. Years later, the Orb is found by The Garbage Man (Jason Momoa) and is activated by a boy named Henry (Sebastian Hansen) to transport both of them into the Mines. Henry's sister, Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) follow them into the Mines, where they are joined by Steve, who is unbound by Malgosha to retrieve the Orb from the four. Will they be able to stop the queen?
A Minecraft Movie is low on substance because it follows a predictable plot. Those who enjoyed the game years ago may find some moments enjoyable, while others will be disappointed. The humor may work on some occasions because it’s free from any logic and sense. Sometimes you can enjoy the absurdity of the joke, but other times it becomes too annoying. This movie suffers from the same issue; it gets some parts right but overdoes the rest. It degenerates to a childish level when you find yourself completely disconnected from the film and just wait for it to end so that you can leave, wash your face, and go back home.
A Minecraft Movie Cast:
There is not much to appreciate in the performances, as no actor seems to be putting in any effort. It's not a character-driven role for any of them. Jason Momoa still brings some funny moments with his charisma and cheesy character. Although not up to his own standard, Jack Black remains the best performer among the cast. The milky face of Emma Myers may allure you for a while, but her performance falls short. Sebastian couldn't deliver his dialogue properly, whereas Danielle Brooks delivered her lines well but hardly looked good. Jennifer Coolidge plays the hot cougar, and Rachel House's voice was not suitable for the menacing image of a cruel ruler.

Minecraft Movie Review
On the visual front, A Minecraft Movie is a significant letdown. The production design and VFX are both of cheap quality, or they must have aimed to make it resemble a game rather than a movie. It feels too low-grade. Enrique Chediak's cinematography was strictly average, while James Thomas did a good job at the editing table for a 100-minute film. The film may be highly predictable, but it never felt stretched or boring. Jared Hess should have focused on the scripting and the visual presentation of the film because, without these two aspects, this movie is just NOTHING, or CRAP. You may enjoy it as a game lover, since there is everything for you, but as a movie lover, you will leave empty-handed.
