On Wednesday, Universal Pictures officially announced the film once again at the Cinemacon 2025 event. Universal Pictures' executive Jim Orr did not take a moment’s break while calling Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey a once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece. Isn’t that freaking you out right now?
"The film will be a once-in-a-generation cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would, quite frankly, be very proud of,” Jim Orr said at the event, leaving fans and media excited for Nolan's epic.

The Oppenheimer creator, who is also producing the film, has assembled an ensemble cast featuring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron, with Matt Damon portraying Odysseus, the Ancient Greek king of Ithaca. The Odyssey is scheduled for theatrical release on July 17, 2026.
