Bollywood actor Vijay Raaz has been acquitted by a Gondia court in a sexual harassment case filed in 2020 during the filming of Sherni. The Gondia court ruled that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.

Following the accusations, Raaz's lawyer noted that the actor experienced significant professional setbacks, including losing work. The acquittal brings closure to a high-profile case within the Indian film industry. Notably, the complainant passed away before the trial concluded, and key witnesses did not support the prosecution's case. Additionally, the CCTV footage presented did not conclusively show any misconduct by Raaz. As a result, the court granted him the benefit of the doubt and acquitted him of all charges.

A crew member from the Sherni movie accused Raaz of molestation, and he was arrested in 2020. However, he managed to secure bail on the same day, but the court case ran for five years until now. The judge noted that the prosecution's evidence was weak and inadequate. The CCTV footage submitted also failed to clearly depict the accused engaging in the alleged misconduct. Furthermore, the court stated that the oral testimonies provided by the prosecution were insufficient to establish guilt. As a result, Vijay Raaz was acquitted, with the benefit of the doubt under criminal law granted in his favor.
