Varun Dhawan to play 1971 War Hero Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya in Border 2 –

Varun Dhawan's role in Border 2:

Border 2 is currently being filmed at various locations in India. While Sunny Deol will lead the force, as he did in Border (1997), Varun Dhawan will also have a significant role. According to a report from Mid-Day, Dhawan will portray the 1971 war hero Major Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya in the upcoming war drama.

"Apart from holding look sessions with designer Sheetal Sharma, Varun met with Indian officers, celebrated Army Day with them, and engaged in conversations to gain a deeper understanding of their lives. Varun’s scenes will begin with his departure from Sisana village in Haryana and his journey in the Indo-Pak War," said a source close to the development.

The source further added, "Varun’s first scene includes a massive action sequence featuring heavy artillery and guns, designed by Hollywood filmmaker Nick Powell. Major Hoshiyar Singh led from the front at the Jarpal post in the Shakargarh sector and refused to evacuate until the ceasefire, despite being heavily wounded. To encourage and motivate his men to stay strong and fight, he moved from trench to trench and even manned the machine gun himself. His company repelled all attacks, imposing heavy casualties on the Pakistani army."
