The Odyssey Advance ticket sales:
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming cinematic opus, The Odyssey, is already breaking cinematic norms — with IMAX 70mm tickets going on sale a full year before its July 17, 2026 release. Major chains like AMC, Harkins, and Cinemark have quietly listed 70mm showtimes across the U.S., including in Los Angeles, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco, and New York.
This early ticket rollout is a strategic response to the massive demand for Nolan's work on the largest screens possible. Following the staggering success of Oppenheimer, which earned nearly $976 million worldwide—with over $190 million from IMAX formats—studios are doubling down on the premium format play. And unlike The Dark Knight Rises, which waited six months before IMAX pre-sales, this one launches a whole year early.
What makes The Odyssey especially unique is that it will be the first major feature shot entirely on IMAX film, using newly developed 65mm cameras that are quieter, lighter, and enable Christopher Nolan’s bold visual storytelling. IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond confirmed Nolan’s challenge to IMAX’s engineers led to these advances.

Reports suggest only around 30 film prints will be available worldwide, which means seats at true IMAX GT venues are expected to sell out quickly. Reddit users are already marveling at the early listings — one observed: “Odyssey IMAX 70mm showtimes have been listed… almost a year in advance.”
Finally, Christopher Nolan’s ensemble cast adds further allure: Matt Damon portrays Odysseus, with Tom Holland as Telemachus, joined by Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, and Elliot Page rounding out the mythic journey. So, how excited are you to watch this film on the biggest screen possible? Let us know in comments.
