Thamma Takes A Good Opening:
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s horror-comedy Thamma opened to a good response at the box office on Diwali day. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film marks another fresh addition to Maddock Films’ successful horror universe, and the audience turnout on day one reflected good interest.
The morning shows registered a decent occupancy, which gradually picked up during the afternoon as families stepped out for festive outings. However, the evening and late-night shows saw a noticeable dip in collections due to Laxmi Pooja celebrations across several regions. Despite that, Thamma managed to collect an impressive ₹24–25 crore nett on its opening day, which is a superb start for a mid-budget flick.
Trade believe that the real test begins post-Diwali, as the following day traditionally witnesses a massive surge in footfalls. Given the positive word of mouth and family-friendly genre, the film is expected to show strong growth through the extended six-day weekend.
Trade experts predict that Thamma could easily cross the ₹75 crore mark by the end of the weekend and may even emerge as a clean hit if the trend continues. If collections sustain, Thamma will add another success to Maddock’s horror-comedy lineup. However, the film should do really well in coming days to become Superhit or Blockbuster.
