Supreme Court Orders Ghooskhor Pandat Makers To Change Title:
The Supreme Court of India has directed the makers of the Netflix film Ghooskhor Pandat to change its title before allowing the movie to be released. The top court said the original title could hurt the sentiments of a community and cannot be permitted to remain as it is.
The decision came during a hearing on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a petition challenged the title of the film. The petitioners argued that the words used in the title were offensive and derogatory towards a particular group, and that showing it without changes would promote stereotyping and hurt religious feelings.

A bench of Supreme Court judges made it clear that no section of society should be denigrated or disrespected through the title of a film. The court asked the filmmakers, including producer Neeraj Pandey, to submit a new title that avoids offensive implications. The court also issued notices to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification in the matter.

Ghooskhor Pandat stars Manoj Bajpayee and marks a major new project for Netflix India. Promotional material for the movie was taken down earlier after the initial backlash, and the team had already agreed to work on a new name. The next hearing in the case is expected to take place later this month as the court reviews the revised title and other details.
