DC and WB’s latest superhero smash, Superman, has taken off in a big way at the global box office. The film, which marks the debut of David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel, opened to an impressive $217 million worldwide in its first weekend. In the domestic (North American) market, Superman managed to pull in a solid $85 million, making it one of the best openings of the year. Though slightly below some previous DC entries like The Batman, the response has been mostly positive, and the word-of-mouth could ensure strong weekday numbers.

Internationally, the film collected $132 million, led by strong performances in the UK, Australia, Brazil, and parts of Europe. The new direction taken by director James Gunn, who delivered a global hit like Gaurdians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, has sparked curiosity and excitement among fans and critics alike. The blend of action, heart, and hope appears to have worked well, and audiences have appreciated the more grounded approach to the character. Before the release, many doubted Corenswet's addition, but now it seems to have been accepted by people and critics.

In India, Superman had a promising opening weekend, collecting a gross total of ₹32 crore. The film started strong on Friday with ₹8.83 crore, jumped to ₹11.94 crore on Saturday, and maintained steady business on Sunday with ₹11.23 crore. With no major local competition and positive audience buzz, the film is expected to continue performing well in the coming week. The film may not emerge as a "HIT," in India, but is certainly a "SUCCESS." For the record books, Superman has scored the biggest opening weekend for any DC film at the Indian Box Office.
