Suhana Khan In Legal Trouble Over A Land Deal:

Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, is currently under legal scrutiny over her purchase of agricultural land in Alibaug’s Thal village, a deal worth ₹12.91 crore that took place in June 2023. 

According to a recent report, the land falls under a government-allotted agricultural parcel with a strict “no-sale” clause. The original allotment from 1968 allowed the land only for cultivation, and any sale or transfer without explicit permission from the District Collector is prohibited.

SIT investigations reveal that the land, spread across about 1.5 acres and having registered structures on it, was sold by the heirs of previous allottees—Anjali, Rekha, and Priya Khote—to Suhana Khan through a registered Sale Agreement. This occurred without necessary approvals, and there are serious allegations of collusion between officials and misuse of authority to clear the deal. One official reportedly filed a misleading inspection report that falsely claimed there were no existing structures on the land.

The controversy intensified when the SIT highlighted potential revenue loss to the state — depriving it of conversion fees or premiums that would normally apply — and flagged possible criminal charges for those involved, including Suhana’s side and the officials. If proven, the transaction could be invalidated and the land may revert to government control. 

As of now, neither Suhana Khan nor her representatives have publicly responded to the allegations. Suhana Khan had paid a stamp duty of ₹77.46 lakh when she purchased the land. Reports say the authorities are now looking into the deal and have asked the Alibag Tehsildar to submit a fair report. Resident Deputy Collector Sandesh has already issued directions in this case. Interestingly, the registered sale documents listed Suhana Khan as a farmer at the time of purchase.
