Sikandar Underwhelming Advance:
The advance booking for Salman Khan's upcoming film, Sikandar, is on its final day, and, sadly to say, the numbers are subpar. It is now clear that this will bring another underwhelming opening for the superstar who used to rule the Eid festival like no other.

Sikandar has sold approximately 85,000 tickets in national chains for day one, with 70% led by the PVR Inox chain, leaving 30% for Cinepolis. The advance sales are mediocre so far, and unless something turns up miraculously today, this film is going to open at a mid/decent level. In other words, it will be nowhere close to the bumper opening Salman used to achieve on Eid.

Speaking of numbers, AR Murugadoss' directorial is looking to open in the range of Rs. 30-32 crore nett, depending on spot bookings. Since it's the last day of pre-Eid, Muslim audiences will be coming on Monday, and the film will see a jump on the second day. This will be much lower than Salman's previous release with YRF, Tiger 3, which opened to Rs. 40 crore and was called an underperformer. Moreover, if Sikandar fails to emerge as a blockbuster, Salman's dry run on Eid will complete nine years since his last blockbuster on Eid came in 2016 with Sultan.

There is one more day to go for Sikandar, so it will be interesting to see if the momentum shifts from mid-level to good. That said, one must also consider that Salman's stardom is at stake this time, as many of his contemporaries have already delivered 50 crore and 60 crore openings. To reach that level, Salman and his fans need to wait longer.
