Sikandar opens lower than Chhaava:
Salman Khan's Eid release Sikandar has seen shocking numbers on day one. The film was expected to open in the range of 30 crore nett, but as per early estimates, it has recorded lower figures.

Sikandar opening day collection:
Sikandar is projected to open at Rs. 26 crore nett, which will be lower than Vicky Kaushal's last release, Chhaava. Kaushal's historical action epic opened with Rs. 29 crore nett, despite being a much smaller film and releasing on fewer screens. This seriously puts Salman Khan's stardom at stake and raises the question: Is Salman Khan's stardom gone?

Vicky Kaushal's film was made on a lower budget and was released on fewer screens during a regular weekend, whereas AR Murugadoss' action saga has nearly double the budget and was released on over 5,500 screens. The film was also benefited by Sunday and the Gudi Padwa festival but was hurt by the Pre-Eid period. Yet, the numbers are lower compared to some of Salman's previous films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, and Race 3 that did well on Pre-Eid, especially on opening day when comparing ticket prices. This seriously raises questions about Salman Khan's stardom.

As things stand today, there is no way Sikandar can emerge as a hit from here. Many would have expected the film to score lower numbers than Chhaava in its lifetime run, but having a lower opening definitely puts Salman Khan behind his contemporaries and young stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film has a budget in the range of Rs. 280-300 crore, so it is undoubtedly going to incur substantial losses in the coming days for distributors, exhibitors, and producers. Let's wait for the Monday and Tuesday figures now.
