Sikandar LOW Advance Booking:

It's Eid time, and of course, there is a Salman Khan film; however, the buzz isn't there. The advance booking for Salman Khan's upcoming Eid release, Sikandar, is not up to the mark. The film failed to gain any momentum from Wednesday, and Friday morning shows no difference. The hourly trending on BMS (Book My Show) is showing 1,500 tickets sold, which should be at least 4,000 to 5,000 at this moment for such a big movie.

Salman Khan's Sikandar lacks momentum in advance sales; Behind Chhaava –

The pre-Eid period must have made things difficult for the Salman Khan starrer, but the numbers are underwhelming even after accounting for the loss. The film has crossed 72,000 tickets in national chains, PIC (PVRInox and Cinepolis), with 70% of tickets led by the PVRInox chain. This isn't anywhere close to even half of Tiger 3, which has been labeled an underperformer by many.

Around this time, Tiger 3 had sold over 170,000 tickets in national chains, and that was also released on a Sunday. The final total for Tiger 3 had crossed 300,000 ticket sales, whereas Sikandar is heading for 200,000 to 250,000 ticket sales at the moment. The numbers could go a bit higher, but beating Tiger 3 doesn't seem likely. Tiger 3 had an opening of Rs. 40 crore nett, so one can expect Sikandar to open at around Rs. 30 to 32 crore nett (±10%), which should be considered low for Salman Khan, as he has had bigger openings than this a decade ago, even with 50% lower ticket prices.

At the moment, Sikandar's advance booking is also lagging behind Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which opened to Rs. 29 crore nett on Valentine's Day. If Sikandar fails to surpass the opening day figures of that film, it will be a significant failure for the team. However, one must also consider the cast and budget of the two films, and Chhaava seems to have the upper hand here. The lifetime numbers of Chhaava (550 crore nett) seem impossible for Sikandar, but it can definitely challenge the opening day and opening weekend numbers.

As things stand now, Salman is set for another underperformer this Eid, as many of his contemporaries have already delivered 50 crore and 60 crore openings, along with 500 crore nett grossers. If Sikandar doesn’t reach that level, then Salman definitely needs to resurrect his former glory.

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film stars Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and others. It will be released in cinemas on March 30, 2025.
