Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen (1994) is one of the finest Bollywood movies from the 90s decade. The film has been acclaimed for its realistic and hard-hitting presentation of the story of Phoolan Devi and Seema Biswas's outstanding performance. Kapur's direction, the cinematography, and editing have also been appreciated for their nuances.
Now, the film has finally come to the OTT platform, and the platform team edited it without taking the director's permission. Angry with these unauthorized actions by the Prime Video team, Kapur took to his social media handle to share his reaction, which was extremely reasonable from his side. The filmmaker slammed the OTT platform for the changes they made in his film without his approval. Have a look at his post below:
The anguish a director and editor go through when editing their films. The days/nights spent arguing, fighting over each edit, each cut. I remember those months with Renu Saluja and myself on #BanditQueen. And then some random person carelessly cuts the film for OTT release?

I…
The anguish a director and editor go through when editing their films: the days and nights spent arguing and fighting over each edit, each cut. I remember those months with Renu Saluja and myself on #BanditQueen. And then some random person carelessly cuts the film for its OTT release? I want to ask this person: Did you even think about the love we give to our art? Did you think about how Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s beauty was affected as you so carelessly butchered the film? Or the performances in the film from the actors? For you were not there when we shot the film in punishing 50-degree heat. You were not there when we stayed up all night discussing the nuances of each scene, each moment of the film, before filming it? Of course not, for we are Indian filmmakers, so who cares? #amazonprimevideo #OTT @IAmSudhirMishra @mehtahansal
