Their first collaboration, Kaminey (2009), starred Shahid Kapoor in a double role alongside Priyanka Chopra. The film stood out for its edgy storytelling, music, and performances. At the Indian box office, Kaminey collected around ₹41 crore nett and was declared an average grosser. Over the years, it has gained cult status, but commercially it did not qualify as a hit.

The second film, Haider (2014), featured Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, and Shraddha Kapoor. An adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the film received widespread critical acclaim, especially for Shahid’s intense performance and Vishal Bhardwaj’s direction. However, Haider earned about ₹49 crore nett in India and remained an average grosser, partly affected by its clash with Bang Bang (2014).

Their third outing, Rangoon (2017), starred Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and Saif Ali Khan. Despite its scale and music, the film failed to connect with audiences and turned out to be an absolute disaster, collecting just ₹20 crore nett.

With O Romeo, expectations are cautiously optimistic. The title hints at another Shakespearean influence, a space Vishal Bhardwaj is known for. While the box office history of the duo remains underwhelming, their collaborations have always stood out creatively. All eyes are now on O Romeo to see whether this reunion finally breaks the hit jinx or continues their unusual track record of acclaimed yet commercially modest films. Will it be a Hit? Let us know what you think.
