O Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has been in the news since its teaser came out, with many people speculating that the story is inspired by Hussain Ustara’s life. Sanober has denied that her family has threatened the filmmakers, saying they have taken only legal steps to address their concerns. She also clarified that the family isn’t seeking trouble with the cast or crew.

The main issue for Sanober is how the film appears to portray the relationship between her father and Sapna Didi. According to her, the two were close like brother and sister, and there was no romantic connection in real life. She says the film’s portrayal is wrong and misleading, and that she wants a pre-screening of O Romeo before it is released so her family can understand how their story is being shown. She demanded a pre-screening so that they can get to know what's this film is all about.

Sanober has also pointed out that her family’s life was disturbed by public reactions after the teaser was released online. She says the legal action is about ensuring fair and respectful representation, not about fame or money.

Despite the controversy, O Romeo is set to release in theaters on 13 February 2026, and the filmmakers have not yet publicly responded to these specific objections.
