Rajpal Yadav Surrenders At Tihar Jail:
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered before the authorities at Tihar Jail on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused to extend his deadline to report to prison in a long-running cheque bounce case.
The court had earlier directed him to surrender by February 4, but when he failed to do so, it rejected his plea for more time and ordered him to appear before jail officials immediately.
The Hulchul actor arrived at Tihar Jail around 4 pm and is now being processed through the standard procedures, according to jail sources. The High Court’s decision came after his counsel told the bench that the actor was trying to arrange funds to repay the complainant and had requested an extension. However, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma strongly criticised the repeated non-compliance with court orders and refused to grant any further relief.

The legal dispute dates back several years, involving multiple cheque bounce cases in which Yadav and his wife were convicted for issuing dishonoured cheques linked to financial transactions with a complainant company. Over time, the actor was given several opportunities by the courts to resolve the matter and settle the dues, but many deadlines were missed or commitments were not honoured, which frustrated the judges.

The High Court emphasised that the law “rewards its compliance, not contempt,” and made it clear that leniency cannot be extended endlessly simply because a person belongs to the film industry. With his surrender now complete, Yadav will serve his sentence as directed.
