Rajpal Yadav Calls for Modern Jail Facilities:
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has sparked debate after calling for upgrades in Indian prison facilities following his recent release from Tihar Jail. The Dhol actor, who was granted interim bail in a cheque-bounce case, shared his views while speaking to PTI at his ancestral village.

Highlighting the need for modernization, Yadav said, “Jails need to be upgraded for today's time” and suggested that authorities consider creating dedicated smoking zones for inmates. He added, “There should be designated smoking areas inside jails, similar to facilities at railway stations and airports.”
Drawing an unusual comparison, the actor also remarked that some prisoners deserve relief measures, likening them to the lifelines offered in the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). According to reports, he believes such measures could support inmates who are willing to reform.

Yadav clarified that he was not promoting tobacco use and acknowledged that he has personally tried to quit smoking several times. However, he argued that since tobacco products are legally sold in the country, regulated spaces inside prisons could be a practical solution.
The actor also emphasized that prisons should function as reform centres where inmates get structured opportunities to improve their lives, while maintaining that the law must remain strict for hardened offenders.
His remarks have quickly gone viral, triggering mixed reactions online, with some supporting prison reforms and others questioning the priority of such demands. He was recently in jail in a cheque bounce case and is now out on interim bail.
