Malayalam actress Preity Mukhundhan has been roped in as the female lead in the upcoming fantasy entertainer Naagzilla. The film is backed by Dharma Productions and Mahveer Jain and will star Kartik Aaryan in the lead role.

According to report by Variety, Preity will star opposite Kartik Aaryan in the film, which blends mythology, fantasy, and comedy elements. Kartik is expected to play an ichchadhari naag — a mythical shape-shifting serpent — making the project a unique creature comedy set in a larger-than-life world.

The film is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, best known for directing the popular Fukrey franchise. The project is jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and producer Mahaveer Jain’s banner. A report in BollyHungama confirms that she has already shot for the major chunk of the film and only 7 days shoot is left for her.

Preity Mukhundhan has been gaining attention in the South Indian film industry. She made her acting debut with the Telugu horror-comedy Om Bheem Bush in 2024 and has since appeared in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam projects. Her Malayalam film credits also include Maine Pyar Kiya, where she starred opposite Hridhu Haroon.

The makers were looking for a fresh face for the role, and Preity reportedly fit the character perfectly. The film is expected to showcase a humorous and lively side of her performance, adding an interesting dynamic to the story. Earlier, there were reports that young actress Pratibha Ranta was playing this role, but it seems they were all baseless.
