Predator Badlands Indian Box Office:
20th Century Studios’ Predator Badlands, the ninth installment in the long-running Predator franchise, has opened to a slow response at the Indian box office. The film collected around ₹2 crore nett on Friday, which is quite low considering the longevity franchise. Given the eight previous films under the Predator banner, expectations were higher, but the opening numbers have turned out to be disappointing.

Trade expects the film to see some growth over the weekend. A noticeable jump on Saturday and a steady Sunday could push the total closer to ₹8–9 crore nett by the end of the weekend. However, the trend for Hollywood releases in India shows a sharp fall on weekdays, so Monday’s drop is likely to be significant. A ₹15 crore first-week total should ideally be the target, as anything below that would make Predator: Badlands a box-office disappointment.

On the other hand, the film has performed better in the international market. Domestically in the U.S., it took in $4.8 million from Thursday previews and is projected to earn around $14 million on Friday, leading to an estimated $30 million+ weekend. This would make it the second-best opening in the Predator franchise.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Predator: Badlands stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. While reviews have been mixed, the franchise’s loyal fan base may help sustain it in the coming days. But Indian market runs differently and low buzz and poor marketing has already hurt the film big way.
