Akshay Kumar is set to reunite with director Anees Bazmee for a new comedy, which will be the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu flick Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The project marks yet another collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker after delivering popular comedies like Welcome and Singh Is King.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, both Akshay and Anees were impressed by the original film’s plot, which revolves around a man caught between his wife and his ex-girlfriend. However, since the Telugu film carried a strong regional flavour, Bazmee plans to reimagine the story for the Hindi-speaking audience while retaining its core theme and comic charm.

A source told the media portal, “Anees is a master at developing new screenplays based on established films. This version won’t just be bigger than the original but also funnier, with many fresh gags added to the narrative.” The director is said to be fine-tuning the script to ensure it fits his trademark style of situational comedy.

Over the years, Bazmee has built a strong reputation for creating laugh riots centered on love triangles, and this project seems to be right in his comfort zone.
