According to ED officials, Sharma’s statement was recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Investigators are probing whether she was involved in endorsing the betting app and if payments related to these endorsements were routed through foreign intermediaries to hide the real source of funds.
Sharma, 38, is the daughter of veteran politician Ajit Sharma, a former MLA in Bihar. Her appearance before the ED comes after multiple summonses to other celebrities and sports personalities allegedly connected with the same betting network.

While Sharma has not made any public statement regarding the questioning, government agencies have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that they are meticulously tracing all endorsement payments, communications and financial records associated with the case.
The development raises fresh debate about the role of celebrity endorsements in promoting unregulated betting apps, and about accountability when such platforms are allegedly used for illicit financial activities — a matter the ED appears determined to probe thoroughly. Previously, other Bollywood celebrities like Sonu Sood and Urvashi Rautela were summoned by the ED in the rhe same case.
