Speaking to HT, Deepak Mukut confirmed, "Anil and I are making the film together. It is too early to say anything about it since several discussions are going on.” Confirming the sequel, he shared, “Yes, the sequel is in works and we are producing the film together.”
Nayak first released in 2001 and became one of the most popular political thrillers in Indian cinema. Directed by S. Shankar, it starred Anil Kapoor as Shivaji Rao, a television reporter who becomes the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for one day. The film was praised for its strong story, powerful dialogues, and Anil Kapoor’s performance. For many years, fans have wanted to see a sequel, and now their wish is finally coming true.

In Nayak 2, Anil Kapoor will return to play a new chapter of this thrilling story. Although the makers have not revealed many plot details yet, early reports suggest the film will focus on modern political challenges and aim to reflect today’s social and political environment. Production is expected to begin soon, with Anil Kapoor also taking charge as producer.
Anil Kapoor shared his excitement about the project, saying that Nayak 2 is close to his heart and that the story will be powerful and relevant. With Anil Kapoor both acting and producing, Nayak 2 can be one of the most talked-about films in the coming years. But looking at the current trend of sequels, one can argue that some forced sequels aren't really impressing audiences. Nayak Part 2 will have to be a solid film to fight that jinx.
