Thudarum Accused of Plagiarism and Conspiracy:

Filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has stirred controversy with a strongly worded Facebook post, where he claims that Mohanlal's Thudarum is a plagiarized version of a film he once envisioned titled Theeyattam. According to Sanal, the film was originally planned under Century Pictures with Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas as co-producers.

He accuses Manju Warrier’s manager, Bineesh Chandran, of being a manipulative and disruptive force throughout the film’s pre-production. Sanal alleges that Bineesh used his access and influence to force his preferred actors into the cast, sidelining original choices. One such instance was an alleged attempt to replace actor Sudheer Karamana with a lesser-known actor named Ashwin. When Sudheer was reportedly offered a fixed, low payment without any formal discussion, suspicions intensified.

Sanal says he confronted both Bineesh and Manju Warrier, clearly stating he couldn’t continue the project if Bineesh remained involved. Though Manju initially appeared understanding, she withdrew from the film within two days, leading to the project's collapse.

He further claims that Thudarum was developed using his original script, which had already been shared with the cast and crew during Theeyattam’s development. He describes Bineesh Chandran as a “masked criminal” backed by a powerful network and accuses the Malayalam film industry of complicity and silence.

The filmmaker believes Manju Warrier is fully aware of the threats he faces but continues to remain silent, possibly out of fear. He calls this silence damaging, suggesting it aligns with a criminal system that exploits young women under the guise of cinema.

In an emotional plea, Sanal states he is unafraid of death but urges Manju not to allow any future tragedy involving him to be dismissed as suicide or accident. Ending the post on a defiant note, he asks only for the dignity to live freely or die with honor.
