Mickey 17 to face $80 million loss:
Mickey 17 was hailed by critics and audiences for its unique mixture of sci-fi elements and satirical themes, but the theatrical earnings aren't aligning well with the reviews. As per the latest report by Variety, the film is set to face a loss of approximately $75-80 million after its theatrical run is over.
Mickey 17 Review: Bong Joon-ho Goes Ahead Of His Time With This Absurdly Entertaining Sci-Fi Comedy
Mickey 17 has earned $35.7 million in the domestic market and $56.5 million overseas, making the worldwide total reach $92.2 million. The film was projected to earn approximately $180 million worldwide, but the current projections suggest a final total in the range of $140-145 million. This leads the film to face a loss of around $75-80 million as Warner Bros. spent another $80 million on marketing and $4 million on a spot during the AFC Championship.

Made on a budget of $118 million, the film needs to cross the $300 million mark at the worldwide box office to reach the break-even point. However, with the current box office flow, it seems like an out-of-reach job for the Robert Pattinson starrer. The TV licensing content and streaming rights aren't likely to amount to much, and the banner will have to confront the losses.

Directed by Bong Joon Ho, the film stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. The film was released in cinemas on February 28, 2025.
