Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone, was released in June 2024 and became a super hit at the box office. The sci-fi epic collected over Rs. 1000 crore at the worldwide ticket windows, leaving much more to explore in the sequel. The director recently confirmed that Kalki Part 2 will delve deeper into the characters of Karna and Ashwatthama, played by Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, respectively. Part One concluded with the introduction of Karna's character, so this installment will feature more of Karna and Supreme Yaskin, while Ashwatthama takes center stage.

During a recent event, Ashwin mentioned that the Kalki 2898 AD sequel would soon begin filming, with increased screen time for Prabhas and Big B. "The second part will feature more of Prabhas, as it will focus primarily on the characters of Karna and Ashwatthama," he stated.

Recently, a report in Mid-Day mentioned that Amitabh is scheduled to commence filming in May 2025 and will be working on the sci-fi action epic for over a month until Prabhas concludes his other commitments. However, with this confirmation from the director, it appears that the film is likely to start production in December 2025 and aims for a theatrical release in 2027.
