Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas will soon start shooting for the pan-India flick, Spirit. The latest update from the film is that Deepika Padukone has joined the cast alongside Prabhas. A report in Pinkvilla confirmed the same while explaining the real story behind the casting.

A source revealed that Deepika Padukone had initially declined the offer to be part of Spirit because the project was originally scheduled to begin by the end of 2024, which clashed with her pregnancy timeline. The actress was reportedly unable to commit to the film at that time due to personal priorities. However, the source added that a shift in the film's schedule led director Sandeep Reddy Vanga to revisit the casting decision. With a new shooting timeline in place, he approached Deepika once again, and this time, she agreed to join the cast of Spirit, as the updated schedule aligned better with her availability.

Deepika heard the script a long time ago and liked the layers provided to the character. She is excited to join the project with superstar Prabhas after Kalki 2898 AD, which was released last year. The two will also share the screen in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin.
