Jr. NTR’s Spy Universe Spin-Off Put on Hold:
Bollywood’s ambitious Spy Universe has hit another roadblock. According to a source close to the studio, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has decided to shelve plans of making a standalone film on Jr. NTR’s character, Agent Vikram, following the disappointing run of War 2.
“YRF had ambitious plans to capitalize on the Pan-India popularity of NTR Jr. and make a spin-off to the character of Agent Vikram. The creative team at YRF was already developing a standalone film for Agent Vikram, but the failure of War 2 has halted the entire process,” the source told BollyHungama.
It is learned that producer Aditya Chopra has made up his mind not to move forward with the project. Instead, he is working on redesigning the Spy Universe before taking any further steps. “Agent Vikram film is not a feasible move anymore, and Adi has conveyed the same to NTR Jr.” the source added.
Interestingly, Jr. NTR, who was excited to be part of the franchise, took the decision positively. “The Man of Masses also agreed to Adi’s point of view and has parted ways with the banner on a very healthy note,” the insider revealed.
Reports suggest that the only reason Jr. NTR had signed War 2 was the assurance of a solo film on his character afterward. With that now off the table, the superstar will no longer be a part of the Spy Universe.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, performed poorly at the box office. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, the film couldn't cross 200 crore nett in Hindi markets, leading to a flop tag.
