Dhurandhar Opens 600 Crore Club For Bollywood:

Bollywood has witnessed a historic moment as Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar has officially crossed the 600 crore nett mark at the domestic box office, becoming the first Hindi film to achieve this landmark. Led by Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and others, the film’s extraordinary run has pushed the boundaries of what was once considered possible in Indian cinema. Here's looking back at the box office club openers from the beginning.

SHOCKING: “Success Has Gone Into His Head, His Solo Film Won't Do 50 Crores" – Drishyam 3 Producer Slams Akshaye Khanna

The journey of box office milestones began decades ago with Kismet (1943), starring Ashok Kumar, which became the first film to collect 1 crore nett. Aan (1951) was the first Bollywood movie to hit 1.5 crore club, while Shree 420 was the first to hit 2 crore nett mark. Mehboob Khan's masterpiece Mother India (1957) became the first movie to cross 3 crore and 4 crore nett mark. This was followed by K. Asif’s epic Mughal-e-Azam (1960), featuring Dilip Kumar and Madhubala, which entered the 5 crore club. The benchmark rose significantly with Sholay (1975), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, as it crossed 10 crore and later 15 crore nett and remained unbeaten for 19 years.

Maine Pyaar Kiya

The 1990s saw a major shift with Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, rewriting box office history by smashing multiple milestones from 20 crore all the way up to 70 crore. Gadar Ek Prem Katha (2001), led by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, then pushed the ceiling to 75 crore.

3 Idiots

In the multiplex era, Dhoom 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reached 80 crore, while Aamir Khan’s Ghajini (2008) became the first Hindi film to cross 100 crore. Aamir further raised the bar with 3 Idiots, PK, and Dangal, taking the benchmarks to 200, 300, and 350 crore respectively.

Pathaan

In post pandemic times, Shah Rukh Khan dominated with Pathaan and Jawan, crossing 400, 500, and 550 crore. Now, Dhurandhar, powered by strong audience response, stands alone at the 600 crore nett milestone, marking a new chapter in Bollywood box office history. This one is also looking to open the 700 crore nett for Bollywood.

Pushpa 2

Speaking of non-Bollywood movies, Bahubali 2 was a sensational blockbuster and became the first film to hit 400 crore and 500 crore nett clubs in Hindi market. Then, Pushpa 2 The Rule, which was released last December, had a dream run at the box office and inaugurated 600 crore and 700 crore clubs in Hindi market.
