Drishyam 3 Producer Slams Akshaye Khanna:

Drishyam 3 producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has openly criticised actor Akshaye Khanna, accusing him of unprofessional behaviour and unreasonable demands that eventually led to his exit from the film. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Pathak claimed that Khanna backed out of the project despite having a signed agreement.

“We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side,” Pathak said. He revealed that one of the early issues was Khanna’s insistence on wearing a wig for the role. According to Pathak, director Abhishek Pathak explained that using a wig would create continuity problems since Drishyam 3 is a sequel. “He understood his point and agreed to let go of that demand,” the producer added.

However, the issue resurfaced later. “The chamchas around him advised him that he would look smarter if he donned a wig. So, he again requested the same,” Pathak stated. He further said that the makers were still willing to discuss the matter when Khanna suddenly decided to exit the film. “Then, he informed us that he doesn’t want to be a part of the film at all.”

Pathak also took a strong dig at Khanna’s perception of his box office standing. “If Akshaye does a solo film, it won’t even collect Rs. 50 crores in India,” he remarked. Emphasising the importance of star power, he said, “The Drishyam franchise is fronted by Ajay Devgn. Chhaava is a Vicky Kaushal film, and Dhurandhar belongs to Ranveer Singh.”

He further alleged that Khanna claimed, “Dhurandhar is working because of me,” and responded sharply by saying, “Some actors do ensemble cast films and after those movies become big hits, they start thinking that they are the star. That’s exactly what has happened with him. Success has gone into his head.”
