Delhi High Court Issues Summons to Red Chillies Ent:
The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, and other associated parties in response to a defamation case filed by Sameer Wankhede, a former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer. Wankhede has claimed that the Netflix series The Bads of Bollywood, produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Aryan Khan, portrays him in a defamatory manner.
The court has asked the defendants to file their responses within seven days and scheduled the next hearing for October 30, 2025.
In his lawsuit, Wankhede states that the series features a character resembling him, shown in a negative light during a Bollywood party raid. He claims that this portrayal is false and malicious and aims to harm his reputation. Wankhede is seeking damages of ₹2 crore, which he has said he would donate to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital if awarded.
Delhi HC flags Sameer Wankhede’s plea against The Bads of Bollywood as not maintainable –
The case has drawn attention due to its connection with the 2021 Mumbai cruise drug bust case, in which Aryan Khan was arrested but later cleared of all charges. Wankhede has also expressed concern that the series’ depiction of law enforcement may undermine public trust in such institutions.

This development has once again brought the spotlight on the high-profile intersection of Bollywood and legal battles, with both Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix now required to respond to the court notice.
In September 2025, the Delhi High Court dismissed Sameer Wankhede's defamation suit against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix over the series The Ba*ds of Bollywood. The court questioned the suit's maintainability in Delhi, suggesting that Wankhede amend his petition to justify the jurisdiction.
