Despite high expectations and a strong Hollywood brand association, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, has failed to make a mark at the Indian box office. The action-packed spin-off from the John Wick universe couldn’t live up to the hype, opening to disappointing numbers and witnessing a sharp drop during the weekdays.

PVRInox Pictures' Ballerina managed a modest ₹7.60 crore nett over its opening weekend, far below the benchmark set by its predecessor John Wick: Chapter 4, which earned ₹27 crore nett in its debut weekend in India. While John Wick 4 had Keanu Reeves and a strong fanbase backing it, Ballerina couldn’t ride the same wave despite the familiar action tone and franchise connection.

The film added only around ₹3 crore nett during the weekdays, bringing its first-week total to approximately ₹10.50 crore nett. With minimal buzz and fading footfalls, the film is now expected to wrap up its lifetime business in the ₹15-16 crore nett range, which classifies it as a clear flop at the Indian box office.

Despite Ana de Armas' committed performance and slick action choreography, Ballerina failed to connect with Indian audiences. The weak promotion and marketing strategies hurt it. Whether it was the lack of star power compared to Keanu Reeves or limited promotional push in India, the film simply didn’t generate enough excitement. Its underwhelming performance needs to be studied.
