Avatar Fire and Ash Struggling At Indian Box Office:

Disney and James Cameron’s Avatar Fire and Ash is turning out to be a major disappointment at the Indian box office. Despite the strong brand value of the Avatar franchise, the film has failed to live up to expectations and is clearly underperforming when compared to its predecessor.

In its second week, Fire and Ash has collected approximately ₹47 crore nett in India. This takes the film’s two-week total to around ₹155 crore nett. The first week had contributed ₹107.5 crore, but the drop in collections during the second week has raised serious concerns about its long-term performance.

The underperformance becomes more evident when the film is compared to Avatar: The Way of Water. The second installment of the franchise had an extraordinary run in India, collecting ₹189 crore nett in its first week and another ₹97 crore in its second week. Its two-week total stood at a massive ₹287 crore nett, far ahead of where Fire and Ash is currently placed.

Moreover, Avatar The Way of Water went on to achieve a lifetime collection of around ₹387 crore nett in India, setting a record for Hollywood films in the country. In contrast, Fire and Ash seems to be struggling badly. Based on current trends, even reaching the ₹200 crore nett mark looks difficult. And even if the film manages to cross that figure, it will still be considered an underperformer given the franchise’s past success.

Several factors could be contributing to this slowdown, including audience fatigue, weaker word of mouth, poor marketing or stiff competition from other releases. Whatever the reason, Avatar Fire and Ash is clearly not matching the legacy of its predecessor at the Indian box office.
