28 Years Later Box Office Update:

Danny Boyle's much-talked about horror film 28 Years Later has had a very poor start at the Indian box office. Despite being part of a popular franchise, favorable genre and having an international appeal, the film couldn’t draw crowds to theatres over its opening weekend.

The film collected around ₹35 lakhs on Friday, saw a slight jump to ₹45 lakhs on Saturday, and closed the weekend with ₹50 lakhs on Sunday. That brings the total weekend collection to ₹1.30 crore nett approximately, which is quite low for a film of this scale and name.

28 Years Later

28 Years Later was expected to perform better given the cult following of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, but the buzz in India was very minimal. The lack of heavy promotions, niche genre, and competition from local releases seem to have affected its performance. Recently, Final Destination Bloodlines emerged as a HIT at the Indian box office, showcasing popularity for Horror genre, but that didn't help Boyle's zombie flick at all.

Kuberaa Box Office: Dhanush & Rashmika Mandanna's Film is a Huge Disaster in Hindi –

Looking at the current trend, the film is expected to close its first week with less than ₹2 crore nett. Even with decent word-of-mouth in certain circles, it is unlikely to recover in the coming days. The lifetime total might settle somewhere around ₹3 to ₹4 crore, making it a box office flop in India.

While horror fans may still enjoy the film for its gritty storytelling and direction, the general audience has clearly shown limited interest. 28 Years Later has unfortunately failed to leave a mark at the Indian box office. Better luck next time.
