Son Of Sardaar 2 Review
RATING - 3/5* ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Son Of Sardaar 2 Review Movie Talkies:
Ajay Devgn returns as the charming Jassi Paji in Son of Sardaar 2, but this time around, the action takes a backseat. What stays intact is his impeccable comic timing and magnetic screen presence. Packed with chaotic hilarity and enough laugh-out-loud moments, SOS 2 turns out to be a joyride tailor-made for group and family viewing.
Dhadak 2 Review: A Hard Hitting Romance That Becomes a Thunderous Roar for Justice, Love, and Identity
Unlike the 2012 masala entertainer, the sequel is less about over-the-top action and more about situational comedy, updated for modern sensibilities. With gags that land well and a family-centric narrative, it's an entertainer that doesn’t take itself too seriously—thankfully!
The film follows Jassi (Ajay Devgn), a good-hearted Punjabi man who travels to London to meet his estranged wife, Dimple (Neeru Bajwa), only to find out she’s moved on and wants a divorce. Left homeless and heartbroken, Jassi crosses paths with Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a Pakistani dancer whom he hilariously mistakes for his divorce lawyer.
What follows is a comedy of errors: Jassi is roped into pretending to be Rabia’s husband—an army colonel, no less—so that her daughter can marry into a wealthy family. From that point on, it's all about pretending, lying, hiding secrets, and navigating a minefield of misunderstandings.
The plot spirals into a delightful mess. While not always logically tight, it succeeds in keeping the humor flowing. Whether it's marital chaos, disguised identities, or last-minute reveals, the screenplay keeps a consistent smile on your face. There's little to no emotional depth or heavy drama, and action lovers may be disappointed.
However, the comedic moments—especially the Border (1997) parody and the absurd “dance monologue” from Devgn—are simply gold. And yes, Jassi's transformation from an average Punjabi guy to a ‘Singham-style’ Army officer is as over-the-top as it is hilarious.
Giorgia Andriani turns the heat all the way up in this stunning floral bikini set
Performance-wise, Ajay Devgn carries the film with seasoned ease. His portrayal of Jassi is more grounded and relatable than in the original, and yet, when the madness kicks in, he knows how to turn up the volume. Mrunal Thakur is charming as Rabia, striking the right balance between glamour and vulnerability. She looks stunning, whether in modern chic or traditional wear, and manages to hold her own in the comedy setup.
The supporting cast adds much-needed flavor. Deepak Dobriyal and Kubbra Sait are lively additions, while Roshni Walia turns heads as the glam diva in the mix. Ravi Kishan is a perfect fit for his quirky role, and watching the late Mukul Dev deliver his final comedic performance brings both joy and a tinge of sadness. His on-screen camaraderie with Vindu Dara Singh is memorable. Ashwini Kalsekar and Neeru Bajwa as conflicted housewives lend their own twist to the tale, while Sanjay Mishra, as always, elevates the screen whenever he appears.
Musically, Son of Sardaar 2 isn’t what you'd expect it to be. The songs are serviceable but far from memorable. Some juvenile romantic subplots and cheesy dialogues dilute the overall quality, and the VFX leaves much to be desired. The production design occasionally feels like a daily soap set, but tight editing and a coherent narrative structure keep things moving.
In conclusion, Son of Sardaar 2 delivers on its promise—laughs, confusion, drama, and a whole lot of fun. Vijay Kumar Arora shows he understands what makes a crowd-pleaser, even if his execution falters in places. If you walk in expecting a lighthearted comedy with madcap twists and loud Punjabi energy, you'll leave satisfied. It's your weekend popcorn flick that knows exactly what it is—and embraces the madness with pride, and without much logic.
