Kesari Chapter 2 Review Movie Review:
Kesari Chapter 2 brings the whole truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre to the big screen and makes no compromises at all. That "The Empire is shrinking" scene has already given you a glimpse from the trailer, so get ready to experience more such scenes in the film.
The film has a challenging subject yet makes it easy for the audience to understand. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre has been called one of the biggest genocides in Indian history, and yet so many facts have remained unexposed for years. Kesari finally exposes the agendas and truths behind them in the biggest courtroom battle we ever fought against the British Empire.
Kesari Chapter 2 Story:
Kesari 2 is based on C. Sankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar) and his fight against the British Empire, which felt no guilt for the massacre. General Dyer had no regrets and went on to lie about Indians, even calling them terrorists in front of the judge. Sir Sankaran Nair drags him into the courtroom to ask questions that no one dared to ask, and then the defense lawyer, Adv. Neville McKinley (R. Madhavan), tries to prove every theory wrong. Will C. Sankaran be able to defeat them?
Unlike any other previous courtroom drama, Kesari 2 has more validity and realism. Every question asked by C. Nair and the way he explains it in front of the judge—never forgetting to mention his nation—will have the cinema halls clapping all the time. The opposition tries hard, but Nair does not stop or bow down. This is his way of showing patriotism toward the country, and even the British have no answers.
Every courtroom drama has to be engaging, and so is Kesari 2, but it is one step ahead as it begins with a mind-shattering scene. The cruelty and pain of Jallianwala Bagh are presented with such realism that you'll feel like crying. It's a heart-wrenching experience. Those screams, the videos of dead bodies, and the firing scene create moments of absolute silence in the cinema halls. Even thinking about it again is enough to leave you in jitters.
Kesari Chapter 2 Cast:
Speaking of performances, Kesari Chapter 2 features superstar Akshay Kumar leading prominently, and what a terrific leader he is! This is one of his best performances ever, and he should acquire such roles more often. We can't predict too much yet, but he deserves a big bunch of awards next year for this honest and brilliant portrayal of C. Sankaran Nair.
R. Madhavan, with his beard and glasses, gives you a feel for the era; moreover, his dialogue delivery is something that makes you love him even in a negative role. The face-off between Maddy and Akki is definitely worth watching. The leading lady, Ananya Panday, has also done well in a character-driven role, which provides her with a new break from her glamorous image. A special mention goes to Simon Paisley Day, who plays General Dyer with conviction, and to Alexx O'Nell as Chelmsford.
Kesari Chapter 2 is high on patriotic dialogues that have legal elements, and the cinematography is fantastic. The Jallianwala Bagh scene and Akshay's close-up shots are brilliantly captured. The background score and production design are good enough. Incorporating the iconic Teri Mitti here was a big challenge, but how well it fits is simply beautiful.
Karan Singh Tyagi's feature film debut is nothing short of a dream for any debutant filmmaker. Taking on a big challenge like this in the first film was not easy; Tyagi didn't just accept the challenge but completed it with utter honesty and dedication.
Kesari Chapter 2 Movie Review:
Overall, Kesari Chapter 2 is not just a movie but an experience to be remembered. This untold story needed to be shared, and the makers deserve appreciation for bringing it to the spotlight on such a grand scale. We hadn't known so many things for years, but now they finally come before your eyes. Experience the truth, the struggle behind it, and its power.
