Identity Review Movie Talkies:

Akhil Paul and Anas Khan direct Tovino Thomas's action thriller, Identity, which suffers from an identity crisis in its structure but has enough edge-of-seat thriller value to keep you hooked for two and a half hours. The film starts off as a racket involving sex clips before shifting its direction toward a mainstream crime drama. It then transitions into a thrilling operation by government officials but loses momentum and freshness as it progresses.

Identity

For instance, having a girl with a photographic memory and a man with excellent sketch artist skills to find a murderer does sound interesting. However, there are too many twists and characters surrounding this interesting plot, which leaves it feeling scattered and entertaining only in parts. Tovino Thomas plays a sketch artist, a macho hero, and a brother, only to reveal that he is an undercover sky marshal officer. As the female villain states, no one knows the identity of an undercover agent, so how did she obtain this information?

Identity

From an MMS racket to personal revenge and then to an official mission, we travel a lot, which can become tiresome. Nevertheless, the narrative remains engaging throughout the two and a half hours. A few songs could have been excluded; the opening portion in the second half falls flat, and the climax fight is strictly ordinary. Aside from these flaws, I don't think there is anything significantly wrong with this film, especially if you are a fan of this genre.

Identity

Tovino's performance and heroic presence were good; Trisha was ordinary; Vinay Rai was annoying; Aju Varghese was decent; Mandira Bedi was hardly visible; and the rest of the cast was average. The screenplay is gripping enough, even though some elements didn't fit well. The cinematography and action scenes are appealing, and the editing is adequate.

Identity

Paul and Khan's direction was steady, despite overly generated twists, but there wasn’t anything illogical. Overall, it's an engaging and watchable action thriller from Malayalam cinema, though not particularly outstanding. One-time watch, for sure.
