Do Aur Do Paanch Review Movie Talkies:

Do Aur Do Paanch used to be telecast on our local cable channel in the late 90s, and we enjoyed it a lot as kids. It was a box office flop back then, which now feels disappointing and undeserved, especially because we didn’t really get many star-led comedies in that era. Some of the best comedies of the 80s didn’t feature A-listers, but this one certainly did.

Do Aur Do Paanch

The film reunites the popular duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, alongside leading female stars, Hema Malini and Parveen Babi. With a terrific writer like Sachin Bhowmik and Kader Khan handling the dialogues while also playing the main villain, you would think this combination couldn’t possibly fail. So what went wrong? Honestly, not much. I just feel the comedy is slightly overlapped and overloaded with too many elements packed together.

Do Aur Do Paanch Story:

The story follows two rival burglars who are constantly competing with each other. They both target the young son of a wealthy businessman and impersonate school teachers in an attempt to kidnap him. Will they succeed? The film is filled with two charming heroines and several genuinely hilarious moments. The situations are cleverly written, and the events are smartly structured. The writing definitely deserves credit for that.

Do Aur Do Paanch Movie Review:

However, there is one glaring flaw. The medical emergency scene feels quite illogical. The children are poisoned and kept awake by singing and dancing while Amitabh rushes to bring doctors from the city. They had telephones—why not simply call for help? Apart from such flaws and a few typical moments, the film remains an enjoyable watch even today. I revisited it after almost two and a half decades and was still smiling. That says a lot. The performance are fine and the direction seemed very much in flow; it's just that a few exaggerated scenes took it down, but not too low.
