2024 has turned out to be one of the worst years for Bollywood. Excluding Stree 2, almost all major releases have disappointed big time, and that's why we have no other blockbuster this year. 2024 has witnessed some unexpected significant disasters from A-listers like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and others. Here's our look at the top 5 biggest disasters of 2024.  

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan:

Two action heroes of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, came together for the first time in this Ali Abbas Zafar mega-budget action flick. Something wasn't right with the film right from the start, and that negativity killed the film on opening day. Despite being an Eid release, the film could only collect 14 crore nett+ on day one and then went on to emerge as one of the biggest disasters of all time, with lifetime collections of 58 crore nett. Made on a budget of over 300 crore, the film faced a loss of over 125 crore.  

Maidaan:

Another Eid release like BMCM, this Ajay Devgn starrer wasn't a proper action-packed commercial flick, so clashing with another big film was a bad decision, especially when you have a budget of over 200 crore. The film opened with a single-digit total and sealed its fate on the opening day itself. Amit Sharma's sports biographical drama was too slow and predictable to hold the audience and saw an expected disaster verdict, with earnings of Rs. 51 crore nett.

Sarfira: 

A remake of Classic tamil flick Sorarai Pottru. Fans have been pessimistic about this film because they know remakes are not working anymore. Sarfira, being a biographical drama, was low on buzz and appeal both and then mediocre content took it further down. The film collected poor Rs. 22 crore nett in its lifetime run and emerged aa on the biggest disasters for Akshay Kumar in recent times after Selfiee 

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha:

Another Ajay Devgn film in the list, but this was a delayed project as well as a non-commercial film. Though it faced a smaller loss compared to Maidaan, the film saw an embarrassing single-digit lifetime total, which is a rare thing for any 90s star in today's time. Neeraj Pandey made a horribly outdated film and had to pay the price. 

Khel Khel Mein:  

Akshay Kumar's third disaster in 2024 after BMCM and Sarfira. This comedy-drama had one of the least appealing casts and was heavily riding on Akshay's shoulders, who is already struggling with numbers and content. Based on a mediocre Italian flick, KKM was never supposed to work for the Indian audience, given the kind of vulgar humor and topics it dealt with, yet the makers decided to clash it with the most-hyped Bollywood movie of the year. As expected, it turned out to be a huge disaster, with a lifetime gross of little over 35 crore nett.
