Vivek Oberoi Moves Delhi High Court For Protect Personality Rights:

Bollywood actor and entrepreneur Vivek Oberoi has approached the Delhi High Court seeking legal protection for his personality and publicity rights amid increasing misuse of his identity online. Oberoi filed a civil suit through his lawyers, including Sana Raees Khan and Pranay Chitale, to restrain various known and unknown parties from exploiting his name, image, voice and other personal attributes without his consent.

In the petition, Oberoi alleged that several individuals and entities have created fake social media accounts, sold unauthorised merchandise bearing his likeness, and circulated AI-generated or deepfake content that misrepresents him or portrays him in inappropriate and offensive ways. Such actions, he said, not only damage his reputation but could also mislead the public and harm his professional standing.

Oberoi’s suit specifically names parties like Collector Bazar, ZoomMantra and Indiacontent as defendants, along with “John Doe” defendants for those not yet identified. The plea seeks a permanent injunction to stop further misuse and to remove existing infringing materials — including posters, videos and posts — from online platforms.

The actor’s move comes amid a growing trend of public figures filing personality rights cases in Indian courts. In recent years, several celebrities including Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and others have sought judicial relief to curb unauthorised use of their images and likeness, especially in the age of AI and deepfake technologies.

The Delhi High Court is expected to hear Oberoi’s petition in the coming weeks as it reviews the legal protections available to safeguard personal identity from misuse in digital and commercial spaces. On the work front, Vivek is gearing up for a pan-India flick, Spirit, with Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, slated for March 2027 release.
