Vivek Oberoi courted controversy as he posted a meme featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her family and Salman Khan, on Monday. While the actor was pretty unapologetic about it initially and said that he was taking a dig at himself by sharing it, he has now deleted the tweet.
Vivek got severely criticized for the post, which many people found distasteful. After deleting the tweet, he wrote, “Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I cant even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever.”
“Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies tweet deleted,” he further added.
The actor had shared a tweet which compared Ash’s personal life with the election results. Sonam Kapoor also lashed out at Vivek for posting a meme about his former lady love. As she called his act ‘distasteful and classless’, Vivek retaliated by asking her to stop overacting in her films and overreacting on social media.
