It had been reported a few weeks back that casting director Honey Trehan is gearing up to make his directorial debut with a gangster film title Sapna Didi starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, which is based on a story from Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens Of Mumbai’.
However, we have now heard that due to creative differences, producer Vishal Bhardwaj has decided to replace Honey as the director. In a statement, Bhardwaj said, “Due to different artistic visions of the film, Honey Trehan and I jointly came to the decision that it would be best if I took over as director and saw it through to the end.”
Padukone’s character is based on Rahima Khan alias Sapna Didi, who had plotted to kill gangster Dawood Ibrahim to avenge her husband’s murder with the help of a gangster (played by Irrfan Khan).
The film is scheduled to begin production from February next year.
