Vicky Kaushal who is all set to appear in Karan Johar's multi starrer period drama Takht, will be seen playing Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, who was brother of Dara Shikoh, that will be played by Ranveer Singh. Recently while talking about Takht, Vicky expressed how he feels that it will be difficult for him to play Ranveer Singh's Warring Brother in the film. Both Ranveer and Vicky share a warm bonding off screen, which was pretty visible in the recently held Filmfare Awards 2020, in Guwahati. Thus Vicky in a statement about working with Ranveer said, "I love him. I absolutely love him. There were times when we were sitting on each other’s laps only. It’s going to be a bit difficult to play warring brothers but I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Further talking about how excited he is to work in the much ambitious project Takht, he said, " It's a great ensemble, I am very excited to be a part of this project since I have never worked with any of them before besides Bhumi since she has done a cameo in Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship.”
Directed by Karan Johar, under his home production Dharam Production, Takht is a historical drama, where Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal will be seen playing brothers Dara Shukoh and Aurangzeb respectively. The two will be seen to battle it out to claim the majestic Peacock Throne, with Aurangzeb eventually defeating his older brother to become the sixth Mughal emperor. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is expected to play the role of Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh’s sister, Jahanara Begum. Anil Kapoor will essay Shah Jahan and Janhvi Kapoor will portray Zainabadi Mahal, a young Christian slave girl. Alia Bhatt will be seen as Dilras Banu Begum, the first wife and chief consort of Aurangzeb, whereas Bhumi Pednekar will play princess Roshanara Begum, the second daughter of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
